Repairing Headphones

Hi, My Son has broken his new set of headphones and I need to replace the complete cable from the headset down to the jack plug. My problem is I have no idea what type of cable to buy. When I opened up the headset the wire cores are the thinnest I have ever seen. Each ear has a 2 very thin copper wires soldered to the speaker, and these wires the go into a single sleeve for about the first 12 inches, then go into a bigger single sleeve all the way down to the jack plug.I have some replacement jack plugs and all of the soldering kit, it is just the type of cable I need that I am not sure of. Ideally I would like it to be very durable, and a coiled cable would be better as my Son has a habit of pulling the cable, which is what busted his headphones in the first place.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Each headphone will have an earth wire and a signal wire - thus the jack plug will have the 2 earth wires combined and a left and right signal wire.

This might work for you but a bit expensive suppose it depends on how good the headphones are.

just buy him some new ones.i got a pair of bluetooth ones for£18.they are great no wires to break

You can get coiled wire extension leads on ebay and Amazon - surprisingly cheaply.

Take the Old set to Maplins for repaire.
