Hi
Can't get to the bottom of this and a plumber is not coming out for two days in my rented flat.
Water is dripping out between the sink cupboard and the next cupboard and running down to the floor! Have checked all connections and they are dry and the waste pipe looking under the kickboard is dry.
The only thing in the area of the wet is a white box which is called 'water safe' and is f switching off the water as we can't get to the stop cock (all flats have these in this sheltered scheme). I am told that it has some sort of vacuum tube which stops the water completely when switched of.
Could this be any thing to do with the leak?
Am at a loss about this as I am elderly.
Thanks all.

I'm afraid this is a new one on me too, Moggie. There are electric solenoid type valves that can be used to do the work of a stopcock, but I don't know what this is. Googling doesn't return anything useful either. Any fitting in the supply pipework could develop a fault and leak. In the absence of anything obvious, this must be where the problem lies. Two more days...

I guess anything could leak; until the plumber checks it it is difficult to tell.

My guess is that this 'water safe' box probably times how long it has been since water last flowed and if the water seems not being used turns the water off.

Seems a pain that you have to wait 2 days for a plumber though. One would have hoped you could get one out earlier but I suppose it isn't classed as emergency. And I have recent experience of how difficult it is to get one out.

Two more days of water running isn't going to do the floor much good. I'm surprised they don't have an emergency maintenance guy.

Hi both of you
The plumber has been and fixed it! It was the little box called 'Water Safe' which is on the inside of the cupboard under the sink, because we are elderly and cannot access the stopcock which is behind a corner cupboard!

This little unit is connected to the stopcock by 2 very small plastic tubes and if you switch the unit off (it is not electric) it creates a vacuum and the water shuts of immediately.

It seems that one of these small tubes had a miniscule nick in it and occasionally sprayed out water which then ran down the crack between the two cupboards. Everywhere else was completely dry!
He replaced it with a new one.

Thanks again for answering.

Moggie
Good to hear.
