Paint Removal Off Brass?
4 Answers
Hi there. I have been given a beautiful antique brass fireplace fender. The problem is that someone in the past decided to paint it a hideous brown. Is it possible to strip the paint without damaging the brass and how would I go about it. I have googled it but only seem to find advice on stripping small items like hinges etc. Cheers folks.

Clean the gunk off with a non-metallic implement, avoiding also the use of any and all abraisive cleaners, etc. Repeat as often as necessary. Once you are done you will probably find that the brass has streaks on it due to the stripper and water you will have used. Polishing the brass at this stage can be done in any of the normal ways you choose.
