Ive stained new skirts, sills and picture rail inindian rosewood but dont like it now! Would it be ok to redo in an oak colour, i want it darker

It will have to be darker than the original but I doubt you will get rid of the 'red' tones.

It is a darker one. Fingers crossed it will look ok

You can but you could rub it down with sandpaper and retry if you don't like the effect.

(Were your requirement to use a lighter one, that can be done, but is more difficult. You spend time using lighteners of various sorts to remove the first colour. Gets a bit tedious I can say from experience.)
