I pulled the old one out by getting a grip on the edge of the porthole where the clothes go in. And I've got the new one half way in. It's plumbed in and working but I'd like to see it back another 8 or 10 inches.

Sit on the floor with your back against a firm point and then push it back carefully with your feet, if it appears to be binding on the floor, try putting a double layer of plastic sheeting on the floor first to enable it to slide easily, this can then be cut away afterwards.

Can you sit on the floor and push with your feet Sandy or pull it out and put something like scraps of carpet upside down under the feet of the machine letting it slide more easily.

It is a bother to get back in place sandy. Tip. Make sure you do not trap or pinch the water inlet pipe or the mains, or worst of all the outflow pipe. I would gather them of string to keep them from snagging then pull the sting clear when it is shuffled back to where you want it. You switched back to the scary avatar.

If it could shake, rattle, and roll itself into place during the spin cycle is there any chance it could do the opposite and roll itself out and across the floor if left on unattended?

I dare say a bit of gentle coercion wouldn't go amiss, sandy.
My problem is one swipe from my mighty paw and it could end up sitting in the back garden surrounded by leaking pipes, broken bricks, etc. ;-)
