Decorating : Lining Paper

I'm putting up lining paper to cover up patchy, peeling paint, preparatory to painting. I've put up the paper and started to paint, but the paper has started to bubble. How long should the paper be left before painting on top?

if bubbles don't go down you will need to cut them and squeeze some adhesive into the paper. did you put a mist coat o first?

"Allow at least 24 hours (or longer if the room is cold or damp) for the paste to dry before you paint over or hang wallpaper over the top. If you paint or wallpaper before the paste has dried, the lining paper may come off the wall or blister"

Give 'em time. You've started painting over before it had dried ? Try again tomorrow.

Hopefully you removed all peeling paint beforehand.

A mist coat (emulsion mixed with approx 20% water) was mentioned earlier and that is used to 'seal' the lining paper. The bubbles/blisters in the lining paper ought to go back as the paper dries.
