Combi Boiler Problem - Hot Water

I have a Vokera Excell80SP combi boiler and am having a problem with hot water. The central heating works fine, but when you turn on a hot tap you get a limited amount of hot water then it runs cold, but the heating will still function properly. You can only get a little hot water for say, up to a minute when the boiler is switched on to power the central heating. The hot water mode for the boiler also does nothing. Is the boiler broken for hot water or a valve problem or something?

It sounds as though the valve (or the electronics that control it) that gives priority to hot water is malfunctioning.

The diverter valve is faulty in my opinion.

If you take off the boiler front you should be able to see the indicator and what position it is in. It should switch over to hot water priority when you run a hot tap rather than central heating.

We had a vokera combi boiler in our house when we moved in.

Total c*** in my opinion and very unreliable. Gave up the ghost after about 4 years thank goodness.

many thanks for the responses - i signed up for the british gas homecare 200 yesterday and an engineer is coming today to fix whatever problem there is so will work out cheaper than a plumber hopefully, unless we have to replace it!

it's the one thing we didn't check when we moved in last october, so a bit frustrating, plus the fact we are also due to renovate the kitchen soon and move/replace the boiler anyway, if only it had lasted a few more months!

had same prob ,yes is diverter valve which costs only a couple of quid

british gas came round, diaphragm had gone so arm/lever for hot water in the boiler was not being pushed up to engage the gas when a hot tap was turned on. he also changed some thermistors as the boiler was on high flame all the time - explains are higher gas bills in this new place!

he said it's a common fault with vokera boilers.
