Hi, this might seem like a stupid question, but is japanese red ( the colour) called japanese red in the paint shops, cos thats the colour im looking for. Thankyou.

Here in the U.S., Mrs. C regularly buys Japanese Red Deep at her art supply store. Seen here:

Never seen it in the UK, except for artists oil paints. If you can take the colour to one of the larger DIY stores, they can scan and analyse it and provide you with a match.

yes we were thinking of doing that, but we cant find anything the same as the colour to take with us, lol, but thanks for trying. x
So where are you seeing this as the colour you want? If it's in a magazine, or on your computer screen, it's unlikely to be an exact reproduction of the colour you'd get from a 'Japanese Red' tube or can of paint.

If you visit a DIY store you can pick up Dulux colou- sample strips to compare with your reference colour, then buy the nearest matching paint at the store.
