Stripping paint

I have recently moved to a 200 year old Georgian cottage in Kent. There is a lot of white gloss paint on the interior woodwork, which I though I'd sand and area to see what the wood was like beneath. When I looked up paint strippers on the internet, I noticed a lot of information about lead in old gloss paint. Now I'm really worried as I am 3 months pregnant, might I have harmed myself/unborn baby? Is there any way I can find out if that paint has lead in it and if yes, is it very important that I repaint it immediately.

Please let me know as I am very concerned.

You should be ok as it's a small area. Paint the stripped area with some oil-based undercoat.
