And in addition it generally is made from a clay composition that will not soak up water, thus they are sometimes used below damp-proof courses or on top of brick walls (to stop water soaking from below and above respectively).
I would never buy any tools from B&Q they are all sub standard rubbish!! Even the well known named electrical tools only last half as long as normally expected , are they specially made for B&Q at lower specs I wonder!!!
Other bricks may think they're hard, but engineering bricks are. They are also a lot denser and heavier than normal bricks and, as mentioned, not as porous as those softie facings and commons.
