Can anyone tell me of their experiences re 'stone' floor tiles. I am doing a refurb so dont want to spend a lot. I've seen some in Wickes which are cheap but even tho it's for a sell on I don't want to make a mistake. They are for a large kitchen/utility area. So .. ok for what I'm doing or steer clear and go vinyl?

Any advice welcome thanks. Not on again till Thurs so cant answer any questions sorry.

I'm not sure when you say "stone tiles" if you mean solid stone slabs, or ceramic tiles?

If you're thinking of ceramic tiles, you can get sent small samples to see if it matches what you're looking for - you can find companies who do it online, like these bathroom tiles: http://www.smrbathrooms.co.uk/acatalog/Bathroo m-Tiles.html

As for whether there's a particular type of tile which is best for a kitchen/utility area? The only problem I can see is if you ever drop a saucepan (or similar) and break a tile - but then if you drop something big enough you can even shatter a solid stone flagstone (I'm thinking of a friend who was moving a 'fridge and dropped it). So, up to you.
