F socket for an aerial
1 Answers
I have decided to use my in built freeview on my television in the spare room utilising the old aerial socket and cable. I have purchased a High Gain Digital TV aerial, this is connected to the co-ax cable with an F plug. I did this but the picture produced is poor even though placed (within my attic) in exactly the same place as the old aerial (which had a great reception). The picture I have is snowy. Should I have used a co-ax to F plug convertor instead to help with reception? I am unable to have an external aerial. Thank you.

This could either be a break in the wire or more likely a short, if you have made the connections yourself. It is very easy to have a small strand of wire (or piece of foil) causing an unseen short.
