fencing protection
Can somebody advise me if I place barbed wire (or similar) on top of my trellis fencing to deter intruders, can I be sued by anybody foolish enough to try to climb over?

I would think so, yes.
My friends did a simialr thing only they used a plastic spikey trim on top of their fence to try to deter cats from coming in their garden. A young boy climbed over the fence while they were on holiday as his football had gone in their garden. He slipped, fell and sustained a nasty cut on his arm from the spikes.
He has put in a claim and its on-going.
