I'm working on my car and a screw I'm trying to undo is a bit worn. It won't unscrew easily and I'm frightened that if I keep going at it, it'll wear away completely and I'll never be able to unscrew it. Anyways, I've sprayed some WD40 on to it to ease it up a bit. Any ideas how to get this screw out? Or should I just keep going at it with a screwdriver. Plyers seem the next step. Cheers!
try using as many different screwdrivers as you've got, one of them may give a better grip than others.
try tapping the end of the screwdriver with a hammer to see if the shock breaks whatever is sealing the screw to the metal.
you can also try gripping the head with some pump pliers and try to turn it that way.
lastly, if all else fails drill the screw out with a drill bit suitable for metal.
