Garden Decking

Thanks for the answers to my question about pruning my olive tree, very helpful!
Next question.
We have inherited a decked area which is in good condition but looking rather tired. I have seen an advery for Cuprinol decking paint, but wonder when is a good time?
Presumably before winter stes in, but I bow to superior knowledge.
Thanks again.
