Having problems connecting tv stand

I have recently bought a Samsung lcd tv and I am having alot of problems with connecting the guide stand and cover neck onto the stand, before fitting to the tv. I have L16 screws and I am finding it really difficult to get the screws in. Consequently the stand is too loose.

Is there a particular type of screwdriver I should be using.

Any help would be much appreciated.
