Thanks Redman 41 for your answer. What you said regarding a loose wire went through my mind also; yet ,how can wires become loose (just curious) ?

If the connection wasn't properly tightened to begin with and the sockets had a high draw on them then heating and cooling, expansion and contraction coupled with small vibrations when plugs are removed and inserted could result in loosening of the terminals.
