it reminds me of a sort of tropical grass ,sorry I can,t remember the name of it, I had one that someone gave me but it wasn,t very interesting so I got rid of it,they said it flowered but mine didn,t
I don't think its wild garlic, it has no smell or taste of garlic and the plant does not correspond with the seasons, I also think the leaves/blades are too narrow.
has it flowered yet only it looks rather like either a sedge of some kind or if you are really lucky it might be the green ophiopogon the 'lily turf' only waiting for the flowers will give you the answer I suspect if you can pull a bit up and photo the root system it might help
I don't know the name of it, but it looks like a grass that grows in my garden. It is a nuisance, as it spreads like wildfire and seems to be very hard to get rid of. Even when I've pulled the majority of it up by the roots, it reappears next year as strong as ever. I hope for your sake, I'm wrong!
Sandy Roe, yes it is a sycamore seedling, I have hundreds of them, we will just leave them to their own devices but the nettles and the lords and ladies must go!
It looks like a type of Meadow grass to me,grows wild but doesn't survive in short cut lawns as can die when cut short so often found in rough areas around other wild plants and flowers. Can spread easy and is a pain to get rid of.
In the first photo, the small bright green plants are young sedges (I think). Best to eradicate this weed before it becomes a large nuisance. I agree with Sir Alec, this is a colonising thug.
some of the small sedges are good ground cover in areas you don't want to bother with.. end they stay fresh and green when other stuff fades will be a pain if you do decide to get rid...as they really need hand weeding to get all the root out
Hammerman, I think you are spot on! if you look at pic No.7 you will see a larger Carex Pendula to the left, I planted about 12 of them in a large arc around that area about 12 months ago, I was given a huge clump of it, I divided it up and planted them around the wild section of the garden, probably when dividing it up it also spread the seeds far and wide i imagine.
I now need a re-think, they will grow so big they will take over the wild area completely as the ones I planted were about 5ft high, lovely grasses but they need to come out!! anybody want some seedlings? :-)
