One of my apple trees has a strange greyish/white substance all over it, which when touched, stains your hands red.....
It hasn't affected any other tree....

Des anyone have any ideas what it is, and how I can get rid of it?

Thanks,
Bob

Sounds to me like mildew. Take a look at these pictures on the link and see what you think. If not I would take a sample of the affected area (in a sealed container) to your local garden centre / horticultural college for advice.

All the best and I hope you get it sorted out.

Thanks very much, Ruthandsam,
That's exactly what it looks like.....

The tree is about 20-25 years old, but this has been appearing where I cut it back last year, so it makes sense...

Thanks again, and good luck with the cherry tree...
bob.
