I cut the grass with a back-roller rotary mower, and I cut it in strips, so I get the striped effect. I cut (say) north-south, then next time I cut east-west. This avoids yellow strips or patches. The grass length is about 1" or maybe 1¼". According to "The Lawn Expert" (Dr. D.G. Hessayon, Expert Books, 2000), a lawn should be cut twice a week in summer, and once a week in spring and autumn. As I am rather long in the tooth, I have settled on cutting the grass every 10 days, and it works quite well, because it saves me some work. I also use Levington's Lawn Feed "Evergreen", which is good stuff.
I mow when it needs it. I mow more in warm wet weather and less in hot dry or cold weather. I also mow all year round...providing there's no waterlogging or frost on the grass. Sometimes give the grass a cut on xmas eve if the conditions are right.
This is at work by the way...i don't have grass at home just loads of lovely maintenance free concrete !!!!

I don't usually have a set time period, I just usually look at the lawn and think it's time to cut it - it's usually anything from once every 7 - 14 days. I looked at this morning and it def needs cutting, but it's just way too wet and it prob isn't gonna dry out any time soon, so I ain't got a clue when it's gonna get cut again ..........
Never!
But only because OH is a gardener. He reckons that weekly is best from May to September, but it depends on what kind of weather we're having. During a wet and warm summer, the growing season can continue in to early November.
The best rule is whenever you feel it needs cutting, and stuff what the neighbours think!

I try to cut mine every weekend but I've got springs at the lower part of the garden so the grass grows no matter how hot it is. There are times it gets a cut after two weeks but very occasionally. I can only garden on weekends and not allowed to make noise on Sundays where I am, so as I never know what the weather will be like the following Saturday I try to keep on top of it every Saturday.
