Splitting Fuchsia Plants.

I bought 6 Fuchsia plants last year and planet 2 into 3 pots; they became very bushy so now I want to split them, so basically they will be 1 into 6 pots.

Can anyone advise me as to the best time to split them please?

You can do it now (unless you've got 12cm of snow like here and so will have to wait until the weekend!)

Not quite sure what you mean by split.
Fuchsia are one of the easiest plants to propagate from cuttings.

For best results take softwood cuttings in early summer, in a cold frame or even outside if in a sheltered position.

I would wait until it warms up a bit Bob. Take them out separate gently (I bet the root ball is still in place from when you first planted them) re-pot and use a little blood fish and bone in the new compost (they love it). I seriously would wait until end of March early April

Chipchopper, Bob's got two fuschias in each pot so just need dividing really. I imagine the roots might have mingled during the year.

I was discombobulated as usual, I was thinking along the lines of splitting the roots apart. I now understand it's separating the tangled roots from the bunch of plants :-]

I would not bother splitting them Bob906. As chipchopper said,they are so easy to take cuttings or,as I do,take tip cuttings.They are the very tip of the plant.Put them in a pot with rooting compost,a drop of water and then put them in a cold frame or green house. I also take cuttings,nice and fresh ones about 3-4 inches long and then place them in a small jar of water,from there they root in no time.
