My garden has been overtaken with a garlic smelling weed with white flowers. It has taken over and choked everything else. How do I get rid. Help please
A dose of glyphosphate ( Round-up) should do it, with another treatment if any seeds germinate and start showing through. Catch it before flowering if you can.
They are ramsons - wild garlic. I've got them in my garden too and they're a menace - I've never planted any and I'd love to know how to eradicate them without using weedkillers. They're nothing to do with Japanese knotweed.
Just a guess but this weed that you describe could be in fact be, Three cornered garlic, AKA three cornered leek, wildgarlic, onionweed, angled onion. It's more invasive than ramsons and has a more narrow leaf, similar to grass and is often mistaken for a white form of bluebell.
The easiest way to identify it is to look at a leaf in cross section and if it's what I'm guessing it will be triangular.
Google some images of it and let us know what you think.
