We had a few escalonia hedges which suffered badly in the heavy snow a couple of years ago. We would like to replace them but would appreciate advice on what to replace them with.
Our aim is to have a low maintenance evergreen hedge with a height of approx 8 ft.

Thanks.

This is a lovely hedge and only needs pruning once a year:

Spotted Laurel (Aucuba Japonica Crotonifolia)
I'd go for Juniper, only needs a trim about twice a year.
Laurel is good as well.
