is there a partridge in it?
Plant it or else it'll not grow big enough for the partridge.

Don't expect any fruit this year though.
Are you winking at me, or do you have something in your eye? lol!

no but there is a silver nutmeg and a golden pear

What about mulching (whatever that is)
Don't get too enthusiastic.

'plant pears for your heirs' they say!
Put some compost in the hole before planting, firm the roots in well then give it about 5galls of water...This could be a sexual perversion:-)

Oh I dont have any compost
Will liquid tomato food do the trick?
Do you know the variety? I've got a Williams and a Conference and they are loaded each year. I would plant it but do water it well even when it's been raining (at least for a while). Enjoy!
Get a small bag of compost from a supermarket.
I once had a pear tree but it attracted thousands of slugs which destroyed it, then they ate my wooden gate. :)

Thank you for those answers
If those slugs go anywhere that fence salting will be too good for them
We will be sad to to leave our pear tree when we leave :-( the hounds will miss it even more, they pick all the pears up as soon as they drop, along with stripping the fruit off every bush lol.
