I have been given this plant looking beautiful and in full bloom. Should I leave it until its finished flowering before putting it in the garden.

It will be much happier outside. Azaleas are cool temperature plants and houses tend to be too warm and dry for them.
If you mean 'planting it out', then leave it. Otherwise, woofgang is right and it will be happier in a sheltered spot outside - depends on where you live, are you liable to be free of frosts? I'd not plant it until it has finished flowering, then I'd dead-head it and plant. What is your soil like? Azaeleas like acid.
If your soil isn't very acidic, another option might be to plant it in a large ceramic pot with ericaceous compost and placed in a position of partial shade.
Watering with a sequestred iron compound can help maintain the acidity.
