Chestnuts For Squirrels?
25 Answers
I have some left over chestnuts which have gone past their best.
We have a squirrel that frequents the garden, raiding the peanut holder. I put four of the unpeeled chestnuts on the lawn this morning, hoping that the squirrel would take them. All day, it's been running around the garden, up and down the tree, burying peanuts in the borders, ignoring the chestnuts.
I have just been out to pick up the chestnuts and they have gone. Do you think the squirrel found them, eventually or has something else picked them up? Do squirrels eat chestnuts?

We used to put whole ones out and they would turn them round and round before scoffing them. When my OH was made redundant we broke them in half, you should have seen the dirty looks we got! They would even come to the patio doors and tap on the window to attract attention. They would come and take them from you hands at the back door.
