Why is my prunus autumnalis flowering in spring? - it also flowered last November.

Those knowledgeable people at the RHS don't seem to think that it's unusual:
" . . . pale pink, semi-double flowers opening during mild weather from late autumn to early spring"

I don't know the answer but I have also noticed that they do produce flowers at other times of the year, as well as Autumn.
The old tree that I noticed this on, just seemed to blossom when it felt like it.
