A shrub, over 2 metres high, with a very simple shaped leaf, mid-green, slightly shiny with deep lines, about 5/6cm long, not thought to be deciduous; no flower yet discovered. Stems a bit like bamboo, but leaves not similar at all.
I wish I could offer a photo ( which I have) but all my attempts so far have failed.

Not a lot to go on but, maybe you could start your search with looking at 'Nandina' or sacred bamboo ?
Good luck.

None of those plants looks 8ft tall. None of those leaves look 2 inches long. But, so far, thanks. Any more ideas out there ?
Is this in the UK?
Another one you might want to look at is 'Leycesteria' sometimes known as Himalayan honeysuckle. The stems are bamboo-like.
This could be 100s of things, if you really want to know then using tinypic to post a photo has to be your answer.
Try this website:

You'll need to open up the submenus as you use it but you should be able to drill you way down to the likely candidates without too much difficulty.

It helped me to identify a pheasant berry when all else failed.
Atlanta no one will able to identify it without a pic only guess

Any thing like this?

Well, it does for me. If it works for you, see if you can tell me what it is. Please.
Looks like: Cotoneaster salicifolious.
By the way, congrats for sending the photo link!
