Bindweed

Is there anything that will kill bindweed? Perhaps something that you paint onto the leaves, as I presume weedkiller would kill the plants the bindweed is attacking? My garden appears to be overrun with the stuff. Thanks for any advice offered.

If you don’t have pets, paint glyphosate or glyphosate gel on as many leaves as you can and then be very patient. The commonest cause of glyphosate failing to work is because the user cuts down the top growth too soon and thus saves the roots from being poisoned. I have great success with it on brambles and nettles by leaving the topgrowth alone for months. It looks ugly but it does work and minimises the amount you need to use.
