Still Getting This Problem
13 Answers
I posted about this a couple of months ago but I'm still getting the same problem especially when I eat something juicy, mainly fruit like grapes, satsumas etc.
Have just eaten a small satsuma and the pain came on as I was eating it and just under my ear started to swell.
Have taken a picture, and although it isn't too bad this time, it's still painful and I won't be able to eat again until it eases off.
Can anything medically be done about it?

Oral allergy syndrome (pollen-food syndrome)
Some people experience itchiness in their mouth and throat, sometimes with mild swelling, immediately after eating fresh fruit or vegetables. This is known as oral allergy syndrome.
Oral allergy syndrome is caused by allergy antibodies mistaking certain proteins in fresh fruits, nuts or vegetables for pollen.
Oral allergy syndrome generally doesn't cause severe symptoms, and it's possible to deactivate the allergens by thoroughly cooking any fruit and vegetables.

Sqad said this when I posted before. (below)
The thing is, it does go away, but comes back again when I eat certain foods.
Johnny, have never thought of that, but I don't get any itchiness or anything, just swelling and pain.
From Sqad;
//It sounds like a stone in the duct of your Parotid Gland ( salivary gland)
It will either be passed into your mouth or it will get stuck which means when you eat you will get pain and a swelling in front and below your ear may appear.
Get some chewing gum and chewing away over the weekend.
If by the middle of next week there is no improvement, then see you GP as it will have to be removed surgically.//
