Ginger plant!!!!
I had a piece of root ginger which had a couple of 'buds' on it , so decided to put it into some compost, bag on its head and into the hot press for a bit. It developed a shoot about 3" long, so I tried it on the windowsill. Bloomin' cat broke that off, so tried it again with remaining bud. It's now grown to about 14" - looks like a stick with 4 leaves!! Anyone know what it'll do now or what I should try to do with it? I'd be grateful for any answers as I don't want something looking like a poor man's Jack in the Beanstalk!!

Hi Jinglepot, Yes they can be grown in pots and should give you a nice jungle effect, in the summer it can be put outside but its tender, so bring it in before the frosts.
It's very similar to the related cannas lily. Just treat it like a house plant and give it an occaisional feed. You can also cut up the tubers further, when they get too big to make more plants. Good Luck Tbird+

Baby bio is probably one of the worst products on this planet. I used to work with a guy called Paul Sturgess (had a TV program called plant doctors about 10 years ago) and he couldn't believe the stuff was still sold.
Miricle grow is probably one of the best all round liquid plant feeds and is reletively cheap
