Cactus question

I have a small columnar cactus that I grew from seed, don't know the species, for several years now it's been exuding what looks like resin from glands in between the areoles. Anyone else come across this or know what it is?

I used to keep cacti years ago and never came across the
type of thing you mention, Are you sure it is a cactus, there are a number of succulents that look very much like cacti
for example Euphorbia canariensis or avasmontana and
these plants if damaged even slightly, will bleed a white
milky sap that when dry, will look like resin.I know its a long shot but its all i can think of.Good luck.

Thanks for your answer shakey pete, yes, it is definitely a cactus, not at all like a euphorbia, it's about 6 or 7 yrs old only about 6" tall out of the pot, the resin is exuding from what I can only describe as "hairy glands" , which are situated between the areoles that the spines grow from.
I just thought it was unusual that a plant as succulent as a cactus would be producing resin which I didn't think was water soluble, but that's Mother Nature for you lol.
