I have been given an Ilex altaclerensis Golden King and an Ilex aquifolium Argintea Marginata which I hope to plant out. The tab attaching to each one indicates the fruit colour so I am assuming that they are female. Should I be looking for a third shrub for pollination purposes? Is there a possibility that the fruit colour refers to the genus and I may not have female shrubs at all? How do I proceed? Thanks in anticipation of a helpful answer!

They are both female varieties which will need a male for pollination. Silver Queen is an easily avaliable male variety.

Not sure I understand your question on fruit colour. The fruit colour may vary between variety but the genus is Ilex.
