I bought two abulitions last year which were beautiful. They survived the winter against the house wall and I noticed today that they are throwing out new buds off the old growth. Do I cut them back (I realise I probably should have done this earlier) since I am concerned that if I don't they may get a bit leggy. Or are they best just left?

I only ever cut mine back to keep it in shape and stop it getting too big. I suppose you could cut back last years whispy growth to a few buds....they don't mind being cut back or if you want the plant to get bigger, just leave it and see how it goes.
