What is the correct name for it, and when and how should it be watered please?

It is called Schlumbergera

Forest Cactus.
They bloom around Easter and at Christmas.
I water mine little and often in the summer, and a bit less in winter, but not so they dry out competely.
Oops, should have said 'forest cactus' was another common name for the plant.

This plant likes to be pot bound, will flower better when it is.
