that one way to get rid of greenfly was to put garlic nearby - as I don't have the space & have tried the ol' washing up liquid spray - I've tried lightly crushing a garlic clove & adding it to the sprayer - does anyone know if that will work/harm the plants ?
(And will I get garlic flavoured chillis ??)

Are you growing chillis? Bring the plants indoors in the hottest sunniest place you have.

I have 5 Dorset Naga plants in the conservatory doing well (about 8ins tall from a February germination) and 2 Demon Reds (seeds from B&Q) which are looking pathetic.

Indoors, you can deal with pests manually, either by squashing them between your fingers or for a bit of nourishment lick them off.

Thanx Whifffey !

I am known locally as the "Chilli Queen" - I even make my own sauces & marinades from them !!

Good idea normally, but there are over 30 of 'em & I don't have the room for them all inside !

I have got 4 different types growing (can't remember what they all are tho' !)
Never been into gardening much but I remember one old greenhouse man telling me that a couple of pots of marigolds in the greenhouse would keep aphids away, dont't know if it works but a lot of these old tricks do.
