Coprosma Pacific Night

I have - or 'had', I think! - a Coprosma Pacific Night in a corner of the garden. I think it's almost certainly dead; no leaves, very brown. But there seems to be some springiness in the twigs and I don't want to throw it out until I'm sure. To be fair, it did have to suffer some very low temperatures this winter. What do you think?

although normaly hardy these may have been hit by the very hard winter we have had. Try scraping a small area of the stem away, just near the base to see if there is any fresh green looking stem under the bark. If there is then there is still life, if not then it is most probably dead.

In France, we've been advised to wait until June before pulling anything up we think is dead. The soil is only starting to warm up and the nights are still cold so the sap isn't moving yet.
