Compost question

I have just been in the garden picking up leaves with the garden vacuum. Can I put the mulched up contents of the bag in my compost heap or should I keep them seperate and add at a later stage.

keep separate in a tied up black sack with holes poked in it if you want them to compost. or you can do what I do, just dump the lot on a secluded parto f the garden and let nature take its course
