We have a plant/flower in our garden that we're trying to identify so that we can get some more.

It comes up every year, then dies away to nothing. It starts as a green reed-type plant, then stalks beging to grow from teh base. The stalks grow to 4-5feet tall and produce large orange flowers.

Any ideas?

Could be Gladiolus
Sounds like some sort of lily.

haemerocallis it is! Thank you all for your help.
5ft seems very tall for a hemerocallis - try looking at hedychiums (Ginger lilies) but they are not very hardy
