Bathroon walls

Can anyone please help ??   I previously had mildew in the corner of my bathroom wall..  Before decorating it was treated with mildew remover, it has since come back and the paint work has started to flake away.. I have an extractor fan that automatically comes on and the window open when showering.. Any advice Thanx ..

Have had this problem for years in most rooms - old house no damp proof course.  We used to neat bleach all the painted and tiled walls - be so careful of furniture etc.  Then we discoverd Polyfiller Anti-condensation paint and its brill - smells awful for 2 days and is rough to the touch but works a treat - don't know about wallpapering over it though.  Bathroom - just bleach once a year or when necessary.  Keep window open all the time.

Increasing the room temperature will help. The problem arises from warm, moist air condensing on the cold surface.  The general idea is to keep the room as warm as possible.  This reduces the 'cold spots' and gives the fan chance to remove the moisture laden air before it has chance to condense.  Sounds daft, I know, turn up the heating and then turn on a fan, but it should help.

There is also anti-fungicidal paints specifically designed for these situations. It helps resist the mould but if any should form it can easily br removed with a damp cloth.  My bathroom ceiling was painted with this stuff six years ago and I have had no re-occurrence of the mildew problem.
