Small Trap in bedroom ceiling of 1860s Victorian almshouse, Why?
I live in an 1864 terraced almshouse. Originally no kitchen or bathroom just 2 up 1 down rooms with fireplaces, outside toilet and presumably cooked in the living room. In the bedroom there is a small central ceiling trap about 4 inches by 12 inches looks to be an original feature. What would have been its purpose?
