can anyone tell me what the bit of the ovens called where the controls are please, the temperature guide is worn off mine so it is hard to know where to turn the knob to, and is it likely to be expensive? its an old smeg oven.

Why not buy an oven thermometer and make your own marks on the knob at the appropriate increments?

Do you still have the instructions of the oven or are able to find them on the internet? I would just try to find a picture and mark them in myself.

thanks everyone, I looked on the website sycamore gave and found that one for my oven would cost me over £60, needless to say I will be trying one of the cheaper options.
