Earthwool is just another variety of glass/mineral loftroll. They're all fairly irritating to install.
Sheep's wool, paper pellets, cork granules are some of the "natural" products that are around. Also, polystyrene beads which are just poured into place from a bag.
Itchy stuff still seems to be favourite, but only because it costs quite a bit less.
Something a little more radical would be tacking multifoil insulation to the underside of the rafters. That would have to be thought about though, as it could cause condensation problems on the other side of the foil.
