So you start on a wall, but not the one your patio doors are on, or the one opposite them. Then when you get to the doors, your lines of flooring will be 200mm longer than in the rest of the room.
That's what I think anyway! I could be totally wrong.
Good luck! By the way, if you have dogs, you'll think the floor is relatively hair free, but when you move your furniture out the way, it'll all be under there!!

I always chose to lay laminate lengthways following the longest side of the room. If this happens to coincide with the way natural light enters the room from a window then all the better as has been mentioned.
