My husband sweats quite heavily in the night and as a result our mattress is heavily stained and smells musty. It is a non-turnable mattress so I can't just flip it over and forget about it. What is the best way to clean the brown stains and get rid of the smell?

Wait for a hot day (so it dries quickly) and use an upholstery cleaner - the sort where you only use the foam.

It is important not to get the mattress overly wet. Use plenty of kitchen paper to blot the moisture up - and a hair dryer will help with the drying.

But a good quality mattress protector to keep the mattress clean.
funny enough I was thinking this question to myself earlier today!
I think the trick is to always use a mattress pad - they can be changed each time you change the sheets - and washed or if you are using the disposable kind, thrown away. That way your mattress stays fresh and clean.
Could try changing the husband for a less sweaty one.
