my husband recently replaced all the floor joist in our back living room and put new floor boards down. Two of the walls have been took back to the brick one where we had french doors put in and the other where the fireplace is the room is waiting to be plastered. But there seems to be a musty smell in the room. there was a damp patch under the window but this has been replaced with the french doors. we are at a loss as to what it is.

any ideas
thanks

Could it just be the bricks which have been covered for so long and now breathing? We exposed our stone walls and for about 6 months had a musty smell until they completely dried out.
Just read belbhoy's thread below, he seems to have the same problem.
