The problem with strong colours is that you can get tired of them very quickly, whereas you can live with light, neutral colours for many years. I concluded a long time ago that the best colours in this respect are those where, if you ask recent visitors what colour your walls were, they can't remember!
It's each to their own I think............my sitting room is plain ivory but I have loads of prints on the walls.............my bedroom is papered with a silver white background with huge black flowers and I love it............I do say it's a 'marmite' room though as you do love it or hate it............
