Mattress sizes - getting fitted sheets to fit

I have what I think is a standard sized double bed but find that the fitted sheets are always quite tight and tend to creep off!! The corners seem to fit (although tight) but the edges don't tuck under the mattress all around.
Is it just me?!!

The really good quality fitted sheets have a better fit, with proper elastic!
I have some Sheridan 1000's and they are great.

We have these on all our bedsheets and they work a treat,they keep the sheets really taut and smooth:~

Of course you don't have to buy them from Bettaware,but I haven't seen them anywhere else.

I agree with AlBags, buying quality fitted sheets do fit nicely and perfect.

I have just got a new bed today and the mattress is so deep compared to my old one that my fitted sheet doesn't fit properly! Apparently 'deep sheets' are available so will have to have a look out for these as don't want the struggle I had today every time I change my sheets!

I have the problem of sheets coming off at the corners as well.

My Sheridon is like heavyweight fabric .. but really silky smooth! : )
Thread count is 1000-odd, but fitted part is great to go over 10" deep mattress.

I use extra deep sided fitted sheets as my mattress is thick. They are brilliant & do not move about at all. I bought mine off ebay.
