Has anyone used this site to get a tradesman for a job? The guy I use to do my jobs has broken his arm so the decorating of my bed room hasto go on hold,
Someone told me this site was good for getting a paint/decr. Or any other sites you can reccomend? - ThanQ

I registered and posted a job, and was swamped with replies. quotes for the job varied from £300 - £3000 when realistically, no one should give a quote without seeing the actual job. I was a bit dubious of some of the references. I also got lots of responses from Polish workers.

I only called one, left a message for a call back... and nothing!

You saying that sara, I did post the job on there had 2 reply's (from Poles)one was ok I accepted, he came back saying when he would come. Sent my details - - - - sent new quote back + an extra £150 because I lived 30 miles from him.
Needless to say I declined.

the other thing you can do is visit independent trades places.. in your case, paint and wallpaper shops/suppliers. they'll probably be able to recommend someone local, or will have business cards from their customers.
if you subscribe to Which Magazine they have an online service called Which Local where you can see tradesmen and other people's recommendations
