HOUSING ASSOCIATION RULES

Hi , can anyone give me advice n how to beat this stupidity ? My nephew is moving out of his housing association house . The couple who are taking over the house ( same h. ass . ) want the new flooring which he recently put down but the housing ass . say he has to take it all up and he can give it to the new couple who can then put it back down . This is so rediculous and will probably ruin the flooring and take hours of unecessary work ! Any ideas people ?

No sorry, this is usual in council and housing assoc's. Never known any way around it so far but someone else may have..

Sounds daft, but they do have these silly rules. When I moved into my flat (the previous tenant having died) I said that I was more than happy to keep the carpet but no, the HA took it up and threw it away so I had to buy a new one.

can only say-will HA inspect it before new couple move in? if not- or unsure-maybe worth risking it?

They will check - they do an inventory for damage, and it's likely if it's left that they will take it up themselves, chuck it out and charge you for it.
Known this happen on a few occasions with friends of mine.

The H A . will inspect it again . The new tenant is in a wheel chair and very upset . Stupid thing is when my nephew moved in the house was in a filthy state and the HA said it was up to him to make it habitable !
